Qualified by Jack Nicklaus as "wonderfully authentic" both courses are ranked in the UK's Top 50 courses. Both were in the low 70s. Our first Professional, James Braid, won five Opens and stayed for some forty-five years. A rudimentary golf course was already in existence when It was here in 1888 that the Northam Golf Club (NGC) was formed by members of the Northam Working Men’s Club (of which Reverend Gosset was a trustee).
